A
Likely Tale
Once
upon a time, there were two groups of people, the Blues and the Greens, who
lived in the same land, one group at one end and the other group at the other
end.
Because
the groups were small and travelled little, they never met. As a result, they
developed quite different ideas about how people should live. For example, the
Blues believed that only boys should go to school. Girls were clearly intended
by Nature to bear children and stay home to look after them. Therefore, Nature
ha not given girls the intellectual powers needed for book learning.
The
Greens, on the other hand, believed that only girls should go to school.
Girls
were clearly not as strong as boy, and Nature had obviously given boys their
greater muscle power so that they could go out an tackle the tough jobs in
life. Girls were meant to do the ‘weak’ work, like reading and doing sums.
This
situation continued for may years. But gradually both groups grew in size and
sought more land. Eventually, they met, and then there was war…
We each picked if we agreed with the Blues or the Greens.
Some people were undecided so...
The Greens spoke first and tried to persuade the others to change to their point of view.
Then people who had been persuaded moved to their new position.
Then the Blues got to have their say and tried to persuade others to change their position.
Each side got one more chance to persuade others before we made our final decisions.
Blues won for all but 3 people - who were all girls!
There were some amazing arguments heard - well done.
Some people argued for both sides which shows what flexible thinkers they are!
Most challenging conflict of humanity that rarely finds solution. So much distraction caused by men simply because of different points of view. Very interesting what these little brains had to say about it. :)
